Sabita Indra Reddy has been elected for the third time overall, she is the wife of Late P. Indra Reddy. P. Indra Reddy was also the Home Minister in N.T. Rama Rao’s cabinet before his death.

She has entered into active politics through bye-elections in 2000 following the death of Sri. P. Indra Reddy in a road accident. She was elected as MLA from Chevella constituency.


  • She was subsequently re-elected from the same constituency in 2004 General Elections.

  • She was made the Minister for Information Technology, Mines and Infrastructure.

  • In 2007, she was made the Minister for Mines and Geology, Handlooms and Textiles in the Cabinet reshuffle.

  • She has contested from Maheswaram constituency and got elected as MLA in General Elections in 2009

  • She has actively participated in the following advisory / expert committees formed by Andhra Pradesh government

  • She has played very prominent role in the excellent performance of Congress Party in the region

  • She is currently handling Minister for Home, General Police Administration, Jails and Correctional Services, Fire and Emergency Services and Sainik Welfare.
